Speaker: Stephen Leston

 

Dr. Stephen Leston is the pastor-teacher of Kishwaukee Bible Church located in DeKalb, Illinois. Prior to serving in DeKalb, Stephen served as pastor in Petersburg, Alaska as well as Warrenville, Illinois. For over 20 years Stephen has been passionate about teaching God's word and investing in the next generation the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ through non-formal, church-based training. He is the author of several commentaries in the Quicknotes commentary series and is currently working on a book focusing on understanding the history of the Bible. He is married and has four children (all of which are home schooled). Stephen holds a Bachelor of Ministry, Master of Theology and Doctor of Bible Studies Degree.

A Brief Overview of The Church of England

In this seminar we will be looking at the pivotal events that occurred in England that shaped the formation of the church in America. We will look at how many of the structures and frameworks that we hold today as core values came as a result of events that took place in England before the colonies were even formed.

Jamestown and the Thirteen Colonies

Thursday

In this seminar we will be exploring the early settlements, their theological views and the shaping features that helped form the church in America. We will get a sense of the great sacrifices that the early settlers made as well as the monumental changes in the structure of the church that they advanced.

The Colonial Period

Thursday

In this seminar we will be looking at the various denominations that formed in America and where they settled. In addition, we will be exploring the first and second great awakenings to understand the impact they had on the church as we understand it today.
